MICHELE MORRONE AND KARLA SOFIA GASCON FETED AT ISCHIA GLOBAL FEST 2024

Michele Morrone was honoured with the “Ischia Global Breakout Star of the Year award” during the Ischia Global Film & Music Festival 2024. This prestigious award was conferred on Morrone, a talented and charming actor who captured international attention after he played the role of Massimo Torricelli in the film ‘365 Days’ (2020). On the other hand, Karla Sofia Gascon, a Spanish actress, was honoured as “Ischia Global Breakout Actress of the Year” for her performance in Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Perez, becoming the first transgender actress to receive such an award at a film festival. Both were celebrated during the awards evening of the 22nd edition of the Ischia Global Film and Music Festival at the Hotel Regina Isabella.

The Ischia Global Film & Music Festival, produced and founded by Pascal Vicedomini, and chaired by Jim Sheridan is made with the support of MiC’s DG Cinema and Audiovisual and the Campania Region. The Accademia Internazionale Arte Ischia and Siae, Riflessi-Made In Italy, Givova, Rainbow and Vulcano Buono promote the event.

Peter Webber was celebrated at the 2024 Ischia Global Fest with the prestigious “Ischia Luchino Visconti Award”.

Peter Webber is one of the most respected and versatile directors in the contemporary film industry, known for his ability to bring complex and exciting stories to the big screen. Born in England in 1968, Webber studied at Oxford University before embarking on his career in film. He is remembered for directing ‘Hannibal Lecter – The Origins of Evil’, ‘Emperor’ (2012), ‘The Girl with the Pearl Earring and Earth – An Extraordinary Day’ and many others.

Giampaolo Morelli, the well-known Neapolitan actor and director, received the Ischia Carlo Vanzina Award at the 22nd Ischia Film&Music Festival. This prestigious award, named in memory of the master of genre cinema Carlo Vanzina, celebrates Morelli’s extraordinary career. Vanzina was an early supporter of the festival, and this award is closely linked to his legacy. Recently, Morelli returned to Rai2 with Inspector Coliandro 8 and is currently working on his new film (with the working title ‘Love Fits All’). In addition, two comedies with his signature are on the horizon: ‘Love and Other Mental Masturbations’ (to be released on 17 October) and ‘Make It Spin 2’ (available on Prime Video from 23 August).

Maria Pia Ammirati was honoured with the prestigious ‘Ischia Art Award’, further recognition of her exceptional career and contribution to culture and entertainment.
Maria Pia Ammirati is a leading figure in the Italian television, literary and journalistic scene. With a degree in literature, she began her career as a journalist and critic before joining RAI in 1992. She has held key positions as Head of the Network Secretariat and Deputy Director with responsibility for Daytime at Rai Uno. Since 2014, she has been Director of Rai Teche and Head of Content at RaiPlay, contributing to the development of the company’s digital content.

Author of novels and literary publications, Maria Pia Ammirati has received prestigious awards, including selection for the Premio Strega and Premio Campiello. She is also known for her involvement in literary juries, including the Premio Strega, Premio Viareggio and Premio Rapallo. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Rai Cinema and Rai Pubblicità, consolidating her influence in the media sector.
